David Villa-Clarke BEM, MBA is an executive coach, leadership consultant, speaker, author and mentor. He is also Chief Executive of the Aleto Foundation.

University was not an option for David when he was younger. He worked his way up through financial services instead, and became Head of Business Development at a UK wealth advisory firm. The Executive MBA at Cass came later, taken while he was working full time, raising two children and running a charity.

That route in is the reason the work exists. His career has since run through financial services, media, education, healthcare, energy and elite sport. All of them places where performance is measured, and where the gap between the people who progress and the people who stall is rarely raw capability.

What he kept noticing was the pattern underneath. Two people with the same ability, and only one of them with someone in the room who knew how to open a door. He had been the one without, and later the one with. Think DVC exists because most development is either generic or arrives too late.
