A structured approach, not a series of conversations
A lot of coaching jumps to advice before anyone has established what is actually happening. The order matters.
The person, the context, and the real problem. Including the version nobody says out loud.
Test the assumptions and name the barriers, including the self-imposed ones.
Build the leadership and communication skills, and rehearse them rather than talk about them.
Take it into live situations: the board paper, the difficult stakeholder, the promotion conversation.
Measure what has changed, and make it hold once the engagement ends.
I began working with David because I wanted to strengthen my executive presence and effectiveness as a senior leader. He quickly understood the complexities, stresses and strains of my role, and from day one I trusted him implicitly. By supporting and challenging me he gave me direct, practical guidance that I now use daily. More than anything, he taught me clarity of purpose when operating at C-level, which helped me communicate with greater authority, manage key stakeholders more effectively and bring greater focus to decision-making. I could not recommend David any more highly.

Practicalities
Engagements usually run over six months, in person or remotely, with sessions spaced far enough apart that real situations happen in between. Where an employer is paying, progress reporting is agreed at the start, and it never breaks the confidentiality of the coaching.
In coaching, chemistry matters more than credentials. The first conversation is there to find out whether this is a good fit, both ways. It is free.
Probably not a fit if
- You are looking for a one-off motivational session
- You want a coach who will validate decisions already made
- Coaching is being used in place of a performance conversation nobody has had
- You need CV writing, recruitment or outplacement support
Start with a conversation
Thirty minutes, no preparation needed. The first thing we work out is whether this is a good fit.
